Russian blue cat: review. "Russian blue cat is a conscious choice"
According to legend, the breed originally appeared in Russia (Arkhangelsk region). At the end of the 18th century, silver-blue beauties came to Western Europe, where they got accustomed and settled down quite well. It is believed that from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th, the first described standards of this breed were formed. During World War II, Russian blue cats almost disappeared, however, thanks to a few West European breeders, they were able to restore the population after the war, and in the 90s of the last century they returned to their historical homeland.
In Belarus, Russian blue cats are still quite rare, but, unlike many other breeds, these cats are targeted. As a rule, future owners preliminary study the features of the breed and make an informed decision to get a Russian blue cat.
In appearance, they are more reminiscent of eastern breeds: thin, graceful, graceful. The weight of a Russian blue cat rarely “reaches” 3 kg; a cat weighs about 4 kg.
Most often, Russian blue cats are chosen precisely for their character. They are very balanced, enjoy sitting in their arms. Aggression is the first thing that is rejected, so the Russians are blue, for the most part, affectionate and affectionate.
Breeder observation: Breed representatives communicate well with children, especially if raised by breeders who have children.
These cats get along well with other animals, unless, of course, they are offended.
Loneliness Russian blue cats endure calmly. Although, if you are going on vacation, it is certainly better if you can ask someone to visit their pets at least once a day. When the owner returns after a long absence, they can demonstrate resentment, even revenge.
But if there are several animals in the family, they can entertain each other, so the cat will not miss the owner much.
Breeder's recommendation: If conditions permit, it is better to keep two animals, no matter, these are two cats or a cat and a dog.
But, in principle, cats sleep about 20 hours a day, so they don’t need round-the-clock communication.
Russian blue cats are exceptionally clean. If you take a kitten at the age of 3 months (and a self-respecting breeder will not give a kitten younger), the baby is guaranteed to use the tray.
Breeder's observations: Russian blue cats lend themselves well to education, understand the prohibitions well, but it’s better not to provoke them to “harm”. For example, if a cat cannot be walked around the table, but you left something seductive there, then there is a 99% chance that the cat will nevertheless check: what is so interesting there?
However, the characters of cats, like the characters of people, are different. There are fearful cats, and they are extremely curious. The nature can change with a change in the hormonal background (for example, the cat that gave birth to kittens becomes much bolder). The character appears quite early, so the future owner can choose the kitten that suits him best.
The breed of Russian blue cats is not “built” on genetic mutations and has not changed much in its history, therefore, representatives of the breed have no genetic diseases.
The life expectancy of Russian blue cats is 13-15 years, but there are veterans who live up to 20 years, and they do not have special health problems.
Russian blue cats are unpretentious, but to say that they do not need to be looked after at all - to sin against the truth.
Breeder's recommendation: Minimal hair care is required. Once a week (better often), it is necessary to remove the fallen wool from the back. This can be done even with a wet hand, but in general there are special mittens on sale. Cats really like this procedure. The apartment in this case will be much cleaner.
Russian blue cats adore warmth. Even if the room is +25 degrees, they can still be found on the battery. All the same, the wool is kotkovat.
A Russian blue cat can be washed, but it is better not to abuse it (no more than 1 time in six months).
Eyes and ears are cleaned as needed. If the cat scratches the ear or discharge from the eyes is observed, then it is worth taking care of the well-being of the pet. But once again, you should not go into your ears - there is a risk of harm.
These cats get used to the clawfish without any problems.
As for the tray, then, if the opportunity allows, it is better to choose a house with a removable lid, in this case the filler will not spill out and there will be less garbage in the room.
We adhere to the principles of mixed feeding. Cats have both dry food and 4–5 “natural dishes” to choose from (chicken is a mixture of chicken liver, heart and stomachs with porridge, and any porridge is a source of fiber).
Breeder's observations: There are cats that prefer dry food, there are lovers of "natural". Kittens eat broths well. If the meat is raw, then we try to give it frozen. Pets can offer chicken necks.
If there is competition for food, then the main cat eats first, then everyone else in the hierarchy. Moreover, the mother may not even allow the kittens to her favorite food.
We do not need to restrict cats in food. But if the cat lives with you as the only pet and does not participate in breeding, then it is better to sterilize it. And in this case, you will have to fight obesity and limit the amount of food. This may not be easy, as Russian blue cats are great beggars. Of course, they won’t be able to beat dogs, but they know how to portray a creature on the verge of starvation.
Water must be available at all times.
